KNIFE ANATOMY
HOW TO USE THE WAVE FEATURE
An important part of knowing the anatomy of an Emerson Knife is knowing how to utilize it. Using the patented Emerson Wave Feature correctly, you can deploy the knife out of pocket rapidly. It takes some practice to master. See how it's done in the video above.
BLADE STYLE: TANTO
Emerson Knives is famous for our many Tanto style blades. One of our most popular Tanto models is the Bulldog, which is shown above. The profile is similar to that of a samurai's katana, because of its sharp angles and razor sharp edge. We refer to Tanto knives as having ‘B-Blades'.
Standoff Spacers have been standard on all Emerson Knife models since 2014. Any knife ordered from our site from that year will receive one of these models.
Lanyard Holes serve one purpose: attaching a paracord lanyard if you choose to get one. We get asked that question quite a lot!
The Thumb Button is there so that you may open the knife single handedly . Specifically with your thumb. Some people are naturals at it and some have to learn. Either way, it's very useful.

Very cool design. One of the smoother emersons I own right out of the box. Love the aggressive profile.

I currently own an ETAK-B BT. The knife has been the most ergonomic for my medium sized hands out of any Emerson I've owned. Something about the way the grip section has that bit of palm swell and the backrest for your thumb when you're holding ice-pick grip. It's a really great design. The blade looks like something out of a video game it's really nice. The straight section has a bit of belly for a better cut. It's a good knife. I enjoy it.

Most frequently overlooked because of the looks. You have to feel to believe the comfort and ergonomics of this knife. I’ve owned and given away a half dozen in both A and B blade styles. Awesome big blade with precision cutting ability.

I was truly surprised at how outstandingly comfy that rather blocky angular LOOKING grip turned out to be. Outstanding beast of a folder, and one of the best waving models.

Design* not desigt. When i think about it i dont know if i read or if i heard that you can cut of your fingers on knives with linerlocks, but this is a terrible imagination so even if its a stupid question I just ask you to confirm that the Emerson company has done a lot of hard testing on this knife, in both forward and reversed grip. Thank you for answers.
Linus Olsson –
Hello. I bought the ETAK – B and i love it. The desigt in perfect, thank you so much. I just have a question i hope you can answer. I read that linerlocks arent secure and that you can get your fingers chopped of when the blade collapse . Have you tested to strike at a fixed target with the knife in the reversed or so called “icepick” grip? And i also read that titatiumliners will wear out over time. Do you think this knife will last a lifetime if you dont use it on a dailly basis?

Emerson knives set the bar high! Just purchased and etak..love it…great ergos..and control in any situation be it for those down range or be it on the streets or farm..awesome edc tool..but clearly designed to do some damage and 38th Emerson's rep..it will definitely stand up to the task..HOORAH!!

Great feeling in the hand, super sharp cool blade, terrible lock-bar. Sticky as hell…
Admin –
Darrin, Thanks for your comment. When the knives are sent out the lock should be on the sticky side and not loose or super easy to disengage. There is a wear in period of 1-2 weeks. Enjoy your knife!

Simply put, this knife gets a 10/10!
Like all the comments before mine, I too was super pleased with the overall feel of this knife. Clean lock up with no blade play. The ergonomics of the grip are phenomenal and the tanto blade is sleek, sexy, and an incredibly kick-ass design.
If you're still contemplating on getting this knife by the time you're done reading these comments, something's clearly wrong with you. It's an Emerson, that's already enough justification. Add the ETAK to your collection!

Couldn't say it any better than the Ones above. I have both the A nd B model. Love the V-grind more like a Japanese sword tip ETAK. Handle fits my hand perfectly. May be replacing my CQC-13 as most carried blade!!

I've always avoided Tanto's because they usually have poor tip control for utility tasks , and I've had difficulty keeping the blade shape after a lot of sharpening.
But I am super happy with this guy! This tanto shape is more like the shape of a traditional katana blade tip. Since the tip is more in line with the center of the blade instead of the back, there is much more utility control.
This and the CQC-8 are my favorite Emerson models.

On a scale one to ten I give the blade a 10 plus !
One of the best tactical tanto blade ever
The handle I give it a seven , I have 10 emerson knives all of them, the handle and blade come together as one they just feel right . I'm getting used to it
It's been my EDC since receiving it and I would highly recommend it

It may be new, but it's my favorite Emerson already. I immediately ordered another one as a backup as soon as I got it out of the box. I was a little worried about the handle when I bought it but was pleasantly surprised with the fit and feel. Went with the tanto out of personal preference. Simply put, In my opinion, one of the best designed Emerson's ever.
