When something is just right, there’s no room for improvement and it lasts for years. Originally showcased at Shot Show 2018, The Seax Knife's popularity grew within the far reaches of the knife niche of the internet. There aren't many production folding versions of it out in the market, and since we are big on historical weaponry, we wanted to make our mark on an iconic design. WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW.
After many requests for mini versions of the Seax we plan to release the Mini Seax. Add your name to the waitlist to be notified as soon as they are in stock. Available with Black Richlite or Black G-10 handles.
KNIFE ANATOMY
HOW TO USE THE WAVE FEATURE
An important part of knowing the anatomy of an Emerson Knife is knowing how to utilize it. Using the patented Emerson Wave Feature correctly, you can deploy the knife out of pocket rapidly. It takes some practice to master. See how it's done in the video above.
BLADE STYLE: VIKING SEAX
The Seax Blade follows a straight or slightly curved edge right out from the choil to the point which is below the center line. Sometimes referred to as a Wharncliffe.
Standoff Spacers have been standard on all Emerson Knife models since 2014. Any knife ordered from our site from that year will receive one of these models.
Lanyard Holes serve one purpose: attaching a paracord lanyard if you choose to get one. We get asked that question quite a lot!
The Thumb Button is there so that you may open the knife single handedly . Specifically with your thumb. Some people are naturals at it and some have to learn. Either way, it's very useful.

My Seax arrived today and immediately upon putting it in my hand, it just exuded superb craftsmanship. The contours of the handle fit my hand perfectly whether holding it regularly, or in the “ice pick” reverse grip, and the G10 scales gave me a positive purchase on the handle . The blade itself came scalpel sharp, and the needle-like tip pierces with ease. The grind on the blade is absolutely gorgeous in the stonewash version! This knife has replaced my Spyderco Yojimbo 2 as my EDC knife. Wharncliffe blades like the Seax are awesome for light everyday cutting tasks, but absolutely devastating self-defense blades should that unfortunate need arise. This knife isn't cheap, but then again, for an exceptionally high quality tool you could trust your life to, buy once, cry once.

This is my first Emerson. I watched many YouTube reviews and there were some complaints about fit and finish issues. I decided to try it anyways. This one has a flawless fit, finish, and sharpness level. The wave opener is nicely radiused to reduce wear on your pocket corner, unlike Spyderco's wave opener which has 90 degree corners which I had to sand down with wet/dry sandpaper to reduce it's harshness. The reason I bought this was to replace my EDC Benchmade Adamas, primarily for the emergency speed-opening feature.
The ONLY thing that would make this knife better is a 90 degree spine. Emerson is reportedly building these for primitive or rough use conditions. It'd be nice to have a 90 degree spine for occasional bushcraft use instead of the current convex spine.

Also my first Emerson. This is a great knife, it cuts like crazy, and is very useful for everyday uses yet is stout enough for much more. I have big hands, so the handle fits me nicely. I love this Wharncliffe-type Seax grind enough that I forged myself a fixed blade version for camping.

This is my 3'rd Emerson and like the other two ( Commander & Bowie) I appreciate the simple rock solid design. Emerson's are no-nonsense knifes that are made to be carried and used. I very much like the Seax, it's a very practical all around knife and does everything well – the blade design has stood the test of time.
The Emerson Seax is an underrated knife and well worth considering.

My 1st Emerson was the mini version of the seax and now having the full size, well it's a truly awesome knife. I really like the way the blade has the slight curve to it and it's a cutting machine and is so appealing to the eye. thanks for another great knife!

Incredible. I waited a year from when I received my folding Seax before writing a review to make sure that it lived up to my expectations and initial impressions. It has. The wharncliffe/seax blade profile is my favorite now, and this knife has been my edc strong side pocket companion everyday for a year. This knife is the closest thing I have found to a lightsaber. Cutting edge and point are wicked sharp and very precise. Its an elegant weapon for a more civilized age. Thanks Emerson for a great product.

I got one when they were first released. While I no longer have it, it remains the knife that changed my mind about EKI (now a big fan). I've said for a long time that a wharncliffe with a good point and a little belly is probably the most useful blade profile there is, and the EKI Seax has these features in spades. Happy to see this model back in the line-up.

The seax is a true beast! Fit and finish are second to none.Had a little lock stick but nothing a little lead from a pencil didnt cure. Hard to pick this or my Tiger as my favorite. i have 8 emmersons with two more getting shipped and havent been dissapointed yet. Keep up the good work1

I’m fortunate to have quite a few Emersons. The Seax hadn’t really been on my radar because wharncliffe blades had never seemed practical to me. Then I started seeing some had chosen it for hard use, so it was time to give it a shot. Practical is in the eye of the user, and now I know it just plain works, and works well. It also seriously speaks for itself when presented. I dig it.

This knife is everything I expected from an Emerson knife and then some. It's shave sharp and the tip of the blade pierces into everything I've tried on it so far (mostly packaging, some rope) with almost no resistance. It's an intimidating looking blade too, and feeling just how direct the point of the Seax knife is as well as the straight edge made me think of how terrifying it must have been to see a hoard of Seax wielding Vikings coming ashore, and on the other end, just how confident and rest-assured a Seax wielding Viking was when carrying the Seax. This is definitely a SHTF / bug-out bag knife, but ergo enough for EDC. I simply love it.

This is my first Emerson knife and definitely not my last! Feels great in my hands, textured handle so it never slips. The blade is beautiful! Also the shipping was quick and informative. Great doing business with you all.

I bought this knife after I bought the commander ,and it is just as good or better. The small tip is sturdy and great for detail work and the blade it self is good for anything, I would recommend this knife to anyone.

If you want to feel like a modern-day Viking, grab an Emerson Seax (just make sure you grab it by the handle)! The seax or scramseax was the utility knife of the Viking age, and used for everyday chores as well as self-defense. Now, Emerson Knives offers it to us in a freaking FOLDING KNIFE. If ever the words wicked and beautiful could describe one blade simultaneously, this is it. Truly a time-tested design, I would feel equally comfortable preparing the days meal with this, or trusting it to defend my life in dire circumstances.
Capture the go-anywhere, do-anything spirit of the Viking warriors; get yourself an Emerson Seax.

To echo the other gentlemen. I'm hoping to get this for Father's Day. When will this be available?
Barry Chong –
When will this available? I miss the out on everything as I have no way of ordering from work as I work in a secure govt facility. Can you at least post a date so I can have a chance at purchasing one? Thank you Emerson Family.

When is this coming oht I Signed up for every wait list I really want this knife. I'm a cop and knife nut i haven't carried a knife in years cause one fell out of my pocket on the couch years ago and my toddler got hold of it. Nothing bad happened but i put them all in the safe out of fear. They're older now and I need a knife I feel naked. I only want this one, seriously! I am desparate.
