The Emerson Super Commander™ is essentially the classic Emerson Commander™ on steroids! It has a total overall length of  9.5 in length.  You will feel like you are carrying a small, folding sword right in your pocket. The Super Commander™ features a beautiful recurve blade paired with our patented Emerson Wave Feature. The Award Winning Commander™ blade features curves that are meant to compliment the natural movement and flow of hand to hand combat.
The Emerson model called the “Commander” typifies the very efficient style of blade shape called the re-curve. Re-curve blades use a conventional V grind and a blade shape that resembles an S-curve along the cutting edge. The first advantage of the re-curve blade is that the blade’s cutting edge is longer than the blade itself. If you were to lay a string along the edge, it would be longer than the blade.
The longer edge simply means more cutting surface. Secondly, because of the curve, material is drawn along and into the concave portion of the blade (the inward curve), giving great leverage when cutting cord, clothing or webbing. Thirdly, the convex portion of the blade (the outward curve) called the belly, concentrates the force of cutting or slashing on the front end, creating a cutting curve that cuts remarkably well with a minimum force. Also because of this upswept curve it is delicate enough to skin large game with ease. See why the Emerson Commander has earned its name as a true Emerson classic.
KNIFE ANATOMY
HOW TO USE THE WAVE FEATURE
An important part of knowing the anatomy of an Emerson Knife is knowing how to utilize it. Using the  patented Emerson Wave Feature correctly, you can deploy the knife out of pocket rapidly. It takes some practice to master. See how it's done in the video above.
BLADE STYLE: RECURVE
The recurve blade is most commonly associated with the Emerson Commander. Starting from the rear of the cutting edge, it arcs upwards, then downwards. Lastly, it swoops elegantly upwards to the tip.
Fun Fact: The Emerson Commander was the recipient of the Knife of the Year award at the annual Blade Show in Atlanta!
Standoff Spacers have been standard on all Emerson Knife models since 2014. Any knife ordered from our site from that year will receive one of these models.
Lanyard Holes serve one purpose: attaching a paracord lanyard if you choose to get one. We get asked that question quite a lot!
The Thumb Button is there so that you may open the knife single handedly . Specifically with your thumb. Some people are naturals at it and some have to learn. Either way, it's very useful.

I have owned one of these once upon a time. It was a TadGear version with true satin finish. What I can tell you folks is this. There is no other knife like this out there. The recurve is so sexxaay and the cutting edge will split skin with the slightest application of pressure. I see a new one in my future God willing.

Carried it in Iraq, Afghanistan and several other conflict zones. Excellent knife! Use it as an everyday carry.

There is no other folder I’d want if SHTF. I’ve been carrying an Emerson in one for or another since the late 90’s – I actually appreciate the consistency in design, if it’s not broke , don’t fix it. I don’t leave the house without the super c or the A100. These knives work well.

Very big knife that is perfectly proportional so it’s not excessive at all. The weight towards the tip makes it flip out easily, the wave is super easy to use. No better choice for a hard use knife.

WOW! I went from a mini to a super and let me tell ya its day and night! This thing is HUGE! But surprisingly not too terrible in the pocket. Anything and I mean ANYTHING you need this knife to do I have no doubt it will do it. SUPER sharp, SUPER sized, and SUPER intimidating! A great piece to have to the collection but I am going to use the hell out of this thing. What a BEAST!

Super Commander has saved me from getting robbed multiple times being a cinematographer/photographer. I lived and work in San Francisco/NYC. Multiple times just the sound of it unfolding out of your pocket scared would be robber. If the sound doesn’t scared them, seeing the blade facing ground in your hand makes them think twice. Also it’s a good self defense tool without using blade. I took Kung Fu for about 6 years, and that butt of the super commander can cause some serious pain. Use it to hit them in the tempo, solar plexus, bash it on their head. Once a crackhead tried take my camera out of my hand, I already had blade out in folding position and slammed the butt in the middle of the forehead above his eyes and he couldn’t react to the pain and I jogged away to a busy crowd. Only draw back it is to easy to disarm if you have blade facing up cuz of over size. Only if your attacker knows what they are doin.

Beefcakes. One of the smoothest EKI's I've owned. If you like a large folder, you can do a lot worse. Don't fear the recurve – they're not as hard to sharpen as you think.

Time for another one, a long time ago in a galaxy far,far away(lol) I had Commander #069. It was hand picked by Mrs. E for me and I cherished it and used it lovingly. One day I left it on the “headache rack” repairing a light cord. I screwed up and forgot it was there and I drove off and lost it. To this day it was a loss I regret. It was a good, solid, knife.

I've owned Emerson's since '98 (my first Commander, thank's Mary) and I have a first run Super Commander from 2002, this latest evolution with the standoffs is the best of the breed, a truly great knife, got mine in the stonewash finish…..love it!

Simply the best value out there, bar none.
Forget the MKT big ole joke knives, forget the Spydy cutsie stuff, forget the Benchmade, no new ideas and really struggling. I am getting rid of all my MKTs and Hinderers The Super Commander is the best ranch work knife i have ever used day after day, its not just for alien invasions and pending war efforts. This knife was so good in the lemon and orange trees today i just ordered a second one. Excellent design, excellent materials, tried and true design, easy to clean, a reel treat to use. Made in the US still maters to some of us. From a dealer or direct, i don't think you will be disappointed. For larger to larger hands a truly great fit and function.
Stay sharp.

I carry my Super Commander everyday and plan to buy a BTS version for work! It’s a great knife and I find it very comfortable to carry as an EDC. The larger blade makes a big difference for everyday tasks. As an EMT , I find the recurved blade very useful, though I will be getting serrations on my next model just for work. This is by far my favorite Emerson knife and I’ve owned several!

My favorite of the Commander line-up, 90+% of my EDC right here. This is my “bring enough knife” carry, if I have to walk out the door with only one knife, this is what I'm reaching for. I've been happy to know of it for about a year and change, and I will carry it with pride for life. I cannot say enough about the Super Commander, try one and I'll be shocked if you don't fall in love with it yourself!

big bad beefy blade! my wife got me this knife for our anniversary a couple years ago! awesome knife

I've been using the Super Commander as my EDC knife for three years now and I must say it's the best folder I've ever owned. The 154cm steel holds an edge remarkably well while being easy to sharpen to a razor edge, and while it will rust due to moisture as its (thankfully) not stainless it clean up easily. The titanium liner lock has never failed on me, unlike almost all locking systems from other brands I've used. The G-10 is extremely grippy even when wet, and the wave feature can come in handy more often that one might think. Overall, this is a premium folder that's worth the money and will stand up to any and all reasonable uses you put it to.

I have had for 2 years a super commander BTS and it is by far the best survival knive that I have tried. It's not the only emerson that I have, I guess that all this blade potential comes from its very special shape. None can be disappointed. Get it serrated. A must for this size commander if intended for outdoors.

Just got my Super Commander and out of the box its razor sharp blade bit me. Now I know we are meant to be together. It's the perfect option between the Commander and the UBR Commander. It's a great knife for street carry and as a Doce Pares eskrima practitioner it's a great knife for hunting. Pull it and your opponent know you mean business. the fight might just as well end there.
