Hattin
When you pick one up, close your eyes and you just might be able to hear the battle cry of warriors and the clash of sharpened steel far off in the distance from a battle that still haunts the arid plains of the middle East and is still being waged today between the forces of good and evil.

When the European Crusaders first encountered the Armies of Islam in the Middle East they were surprised by the battle tactics of their Muslim foes. For the first time European armies faced lightning fast raids by mounted light cavalry who also carried a lightning fast sword, the scimitar. Lightweight, quick and deadly are probably the best words that could be used to describe this exotic and formidable weapon.
The scimitar was a one handed weapon with a very secure grip and its lines flowed in a graceful slashing arc up to a deadly point resulting in a weapon as effective at stabbing as it was at slashing. The Emerson Hattin is named after the Battle of Hattin waged on July 4, 1187, a historic battle fought on the arid plains below the Horns of Hattin that resulted in a crushing defeat for the Crusaders and Byzantine by the armies of Sal Al A Din (Saladin) the greatest of all Islamic Warriors and later nemesis of Richard Coure de Leone (Richard The Lion Hearted). The Emerson Hattin features a scimitar style blade and expresses perfectly the same meaning of those three words, lightweight, quick and deadly used to first describe the Muslim Scimitar almost a thousand years ago.
When you pick one up, close your eyes and you just might be able to hear the battle cry of warriors and the clash of sharpened steel far off in the distance from a battle that still haunts the arid plains of the middle East and is still being waged today between the forces of good and evil.
Ernest Emerson is without question one of the most prolific knife designers of all times. His designs have been the most influential force in the cutlery industry for over 20 years, and judging by the impact they've made, they must have been some pretty good designs. This causes a problem. Emerson has more designs than he has knives.
In his words, “I have a bank of designs that I've created that would span decades before they ever get built and I'm still creating new designs all the time.”
In order to bring these designs to you, the knife user, Emerson Knives instituted the idea of “Special Runs.” We are producing 6 of those new designs as “Special Runs” each year so that you will get a chance to own these new, unique, and exciting knife designs. They will be released every two months in extremely limited quantities.
As of 11/21/2014 these special editions will be hand signed on the back of the blade by Ernest Emerson personally, making them even more valuable as special collectible editions. Do not miss a chance to own these pieces of future knife history all personalized by the man who made them possible.

Great fighting blade! Getting this one since it seems they don’t make the Road house anymore excited to get this in thunderstorm looks like good ergonomic handle and piercing blade design
Gary –
I could tell you about the ergos, the perfect blade to grip aspect ratio, the great design, workmanship, finish and over all quality. I could tell you about what a great updated design this is of a classic Persian blade shape and theme, that I am very fond of. Better that I tell you I just ordered another, while I can get one.
Stay sharp.

Finally got a Hattin. What a superb knife! The weight, ergonomics, and blade shape make it one of my favorite Emersons to carry. I think I need a second one. One for each hand:)

I have Hattin SF #0034. One of my favorites! I really regret not getting one in BT. I can't find anyone willing to sell theirs. 2nd run Mr Emerson?

Got my Hattin Christmas day. Signed #60. The first Emerson I ever bought was the super CQC-7. I saw the model when I was doing some research into the next knife I would buy. The first time I saw it was in an article detailing the sale of the knife carried by a SEAL team member during Operation Neptune Spear. And with that, in an instance I entered the world of tactical folders. Since then I've yet to leave the house without my CQC-7. Originally I bought the Hattin for the same purpose; to carry with me from time to time. Although once I had taken this knife out and examined it from top to bottom it quickly became evident that I wouldn't be carrying this one day to day. It is a beautifully crafted knife that handles superbly. A knife in which I save for carry on only the most special of occasions. This knife screams of down-right toughness and lethality. Thank you Ernie, once again, from a truly satisfied customer.

Santa Claus delivered my Hattin (0081) today. All I can say is wow! Feels great in the hand and the blade is all business. Wouldn't expect anything less from Emerson, but this is my favorite blade by far. Thank you Emerson Knives and Mr. Emerson, I am very proud to own this fine piece of American craftsmanship.

I wasn't sure how this would compare next to my Persian BT, but they are really too different to compare. The Persian is like a slender Fly Rod…This Hattin is more like a stout Deep Sea rig. Both are magnificent designs, and of course tributes to Ernie and the Emerson Knives crew. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
