Mr. President, Show Some Respect

By February 13, 2013November 7th, 2013Blog, Emerson Blog Project, The Way I See It

This is a short one.

Somebody teach President Obama how to salute.  I saw him get onto AF1 the other day and his salute, well it looked like he was shooing a fly away from his head.  And it had an air of disdain and dismissiveness on top of that.

Mr. President, I know you’ve never worn the uniform but I just want you to know this.  Those young Marines in the Dress Blues would lay their lives down, without hesitation, in an instant, to save your life.

I don’t care if you don’t like the Military, those soldiers deserve your respect.  There is nothing more simple yet more symbolically respectful than a smart crisp salute.  As painful as it may be for you – show them just some respect.  If I were one of your so called brilliant team of advisors, I would take a moment to tell you;

For Christ’s Sake Mr. President You’re the Commander-in-chief, don’t dumb down the position – live up to the position.
