The Emerson Patriot features a beautiful blade with a re-curved edge and top swedge. Truly one of our most unique knife designs, the Patriot is offered in both stonewashed and black, with plain or partially serrated edges.

“The Patriot is a humble working man's knife, just like the backbone of Washington’s Army, the men and women who stepped forward into the breach to fight for an ideal that they knew was right and just.  And just like George Washington they will never quit, will never give up and will always be ready to step into the breach for what is right and just.”

KNIFE ANATOMY

Anatomy of an Emerson Knife

HOW TO USE THE WAVE FEATURE

An important part of knowing the anatomy of an Emerson Knife is knowing how to utilize it. Using the  patented Emerson Wave Feature correctly, you can deploy the knife out of pocket rapidly. It takes some practice to master. See how it's done in the video above.

BLADE STYLE: RECURVE

The recurve blade is most commonly associated with the Emerson Commander. Starting from the rear of the cutting edge, it arcs upwards, then downwards. Lastly, it swoops elegantly upwards to the tip.

Fun Fact: The Emerson Commander was the recipient of the Knife of the Year award at the annual Blade Show in Atlanta!

Standoff Spacers have been standard on all Emerson Knife models since 2014. Any knife ordered from our site from that year will receive one of these models.

Anatomy of an Emerson Knife Lanyard

Lanyard Holes serve one purpose: attaching a paracord lanyard if you choose to get one. We get asked that question quite a lot!

The Thumb Button is there so that you may open the knife single handedly . Specifically with your thumb. Some people are naturals at it and some have to learn. Either way, it's very useful.

One of my absolute favorite knives from EKI. I really like the design and I like the historical reference as well. While some may find this difficult to sharpen – it really isn't that big of a deal. An absolute joy to carry.

I'm sorry, I forgot to add that my son-in-law has now got the Emerson “bug”. He has bought a Super CQC-7 and is going to get his dad a Commander too. I guess we can now be considered an Emerson family. Once again keep it up a LONG time please.

I have had two Emerson's in the past. I just gave my Commander (2000) year production to my son in law who will be going over to Iraq this year. I told him to carry that and give it to his kid some day. I felt “lost” without my Commander as it rode in my front shirt pocket for 12 years. It was a part of me. Well, I could not take it any more (about 1 1/2 weeks). I got me a Patriot Ser. #0052. I wish I could have afforded getting one of the oak George Washington ones, but I'm not rich. This Patriot makes me feel like I'm “whole” again. There's nothing like deploying your Emerson from your front shirt pocket. I put it there so I can get it out with either hand in case the other is tied up so to speak. God Bless America and Ernest Emerson (and his family) for his/their commitment to the country.

I just got my Emerson Patriot black with a plain edge in the mail yesterday. It is an awesome blade! It has a recurve as well as a a sharp point. It also has a decent sampling of 154 CM steel on a Chisel Grind. The weight of this knife, with the Emerson Ergonomics, are awesome. I currently have a Patriot, a Roadhouse, and a CQC-8. They are great knives.
