ABOUT
The knife that started it all. There are many like it, but none compare to the original, real deal.
The CQC-7, short for Close Quarters Combat Knife 7, is a renowned tactical folding knife designed by Ernest Emerson, American custom knifemaker, martial artist, edged-weapons expert, and a prominent figure in the knife-making community. The history of the CQC-7 dates back to the late 1980s when Emerson began designing knives for military and law enforcement use. The CQC-7 was one of his earliest and most successful designs and quickly gained popularity among military personnel and law enforcement officers due to its ruggedness, functionality, and reliability in combat situations.
The design philosophy behind the CQC-7 revolves around its effectiveness in close-quarters combat scenarios. It features a sturdy blade typically made from high-quality steel, with a tanto-style point that excels at piercing and stabbing. The blade is complemented by a robust handle constructed with G-10 handles and titanium liners, providing a secure grip even in wet or adverse conditions. Additionally, the knife incorporates Emerson's patented Wave feature, a small hook on the spine of the blade that allows for rapid one-handed deployment as the knife is drawn from a pocket.
Over the years, the CQC-7 has undergone several iterations, with various blade shapes, handle materials, and enhancements to suit the evolving needs of users. It has become a staple in the tactical knife market and has influenced the design of numerous other folding knives. The CQC-7's reputation for durability, functionality, and Emerson's dedication to quality craftsmanship have solidified its status as an iconic and highly sought-after tool for professionals and enthusiasts alike in the realm of tactical edged weapons.
