DETAILS

After so many requests for the flipper modification to be added to the CQC-8 model we have finally completed the first run.
The flipper tab is completely hidden when the blade is in the open position. Flip, Wave Or Thumb to open this iconic Emerson design.

The Emerson CQC-8 tactical folding knife has long been considered one of the best combat designs that we have ever produced. The ergonomics and blade design have merged to form a perfect union. It is perfectly balanced in both forward and reverse grip. Featuring a simple, yet effective upswept blade paired with our patented Emerson Wave Feature and now flipper with bearings. It holds the honor of being in our Top 3 most popular knives, along with the Combat Karambit and the CQC-7.

“The Emerson CQC-8 has been a favorite among certain circles in Britain's famed SAS Regiment for years and has been in action since the Bosnian Conflict. It is a true battle-hardened veteran that has seen action in every theater since the 1980's. – 30 years and still going strong!”

KNIFE ANATOMY

Anatomy of an Emerson Knife

HOW TO USE THE WAVE FEATURE

An important part of knowing the anatomy of an Emerson Knife is knowing how to utilize it. Using the  patented Emerson Wave Feature correctly, you can deploy the knife out of pocket rapidly. It takes some practice to master. See how it's done in the video above.

BLADE STYLE: UP-SWEPT SABER

The up- swept saber blade style is most commonly associated with the CQC-8 Starting from the rear of the cutting edge, it arcs upwards, then downwards. Lastly, it swoops elegantly upwards to the tip with a nice swedge along the top to the tip of the blade.

Standoff Spacers have been standard on all Emerson Knife models since 2014. Any knife ordered from our site from that year will receive one of these models.

Anatomy of an Emerson Knife Lanyard

Lanyard Holes serve one purpose: attaching a paracord lanyard if you choose to get one. We get asked that question quite a lot!

The Thumb Button is there so that you may open the knife single handedly . Specifically with your thumb. Some people are naturals at it and some have to learn. Either way, it's very useful.

Love my CQC-8 Flipper!!! I generally do not carry my knife in my pocket because women's pants pockets are too small, but I still love big knives to keep in my purse. It makes them easier to find.
The CQC-8 Flipper is still slim enough for my female hands but the flipper mechanism allows me to open the knife quickly after getting it out of my purse. It definitely shocks people when I first pull it out but it's a great conversation starter. I love the ergonomics of the CQC-8. It has a slim feel to it but it's still a big knife! I use it all the time at work and when I'm camping.

    Pretty darn perfect!
Razor sharp, comfortable handle in any grip, fidget factor is high due to very fast/smooth flipping action, standard grippy/pocket ripping G-10 and rock solid lockup

This is a great update to a classic all purpose knife. The 8 is my favorite Emerson design. The blade shape can do about anything well. It’s big enough to work with or fight with yet small enough to carry. Once you put a little oil or grease on the bearings, this one flies open with the wave or flipper. Yes, it’s pricey but it’s awesome! It serves the SAS well, so it should work for whatever your needs may be.

The ICONIC CQC-8. The infamous “banana knife”. Now, with a flipper! I admit, I bought this on a whim. Man, I'm glad I got it. I have other iterations of the CQC-8, and it's an all-around fantastic knife, but the addition of a flipper tab and bearings makes this thing hard to put down. I can tell you, it will see LOTS of pocket time. It's so satisfying to press the flipper tab and have this lovely, upswept blade sail into action with a satisfying report. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
