Symmetry. Grace. Power.

The Emerson A-100 is described perfectly with those three words. Featuring a simple and aesthetically pleasing straight blade, with an equally simple straight handle. The Emerson A-100 is essential to the Emerson legacy. It dates before our patented Wave Feature. Not wowed by the flashy and novelty knives of today? Well, it doesn't get any simpler than this. Tradition and elegance are all it takes. See for yourself.

Before bursting into the tactical scene, Ernest Emerson was already making the A-100 design. This knife became the archetype from which all of his other designs have evolved.  It truly is the “Father” of all of our tactical designs.

In fact, it might be the “Grandfather” of all tactical knife designs that now exist.  It’s simple, it works, and it never gives up.

Although we moved to a more tactical area of knife making, the Emerson A-100 remains one of our most beloved designs. It's small and simple making for a great, straight forward every day Carry.

KNIFE ANATOMY

Anatomy of an Emerson Knife

BLADE STYLE: SPEARPOINT

Anatomy of an Emerson Knife

Spear point blades are commonly referred to as ‘drop point‘. The edge curves up to the tip of the blade. We refer to Emerson Knives with spear point blades as having ‘A-Blades'.

Standoff Spacers have been standard on all Emerson Knife models since 2014. Any knife ordered from our site from that year will receive one of these models.

Anatomy of an Emerson Knife Lanyard

Lanyard Holes serve one purpose: attaching a paracord lanyard if you choose to get one. We get asked that question quite a lot!

The Thumb Button is there so that you may open the knife single handedly . Specifically with your thumb. Some people are naturals at it and some have to learn. Either way, it's very useful.

The A100 both mini and full size are great knives..I would not recommend the Skully lanyard, actually for any of them, sure cool knife bling. But pretty much makes the knife useless ,the thing flops around makes it very hard to get the proper grip quickly.I would say if you get it as an add on.Use it for a key fob .On the knife is useless.Been a fan of his since the late 80'searly 90's .If you want to add the bling stuff buy the higher end versions you'll never use.

  2. crbst294

I absolutely adore this knife. It perfectly executes what it was designed to be: A tough and reliable pocket tool.

  3. Adrian

The A-100 is my 5th Emerson and is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Simple, Beautiful, and dependable. What more could you ask for? Feels great in the hand and can tackle nearly any job you need it to. If you are looking for a edc you can take pride in and is built well enough to last generations, look no further cause you found it.

A wonderfully designed and constructed knife. Better than the steak knife model if your actually going to use it to eat.
There are plenty of clown and joke knives in all price ranges these days. You seldom get what you pay for ,rarely, as in this case, you get more than you pay for. A rare value.
    Stay sharp.

The gateway EKI! Great knife for those that aren't sure if they want to take the plunge into some of Emerson's more aggressive styles. Neutral handle and a traditional spearpoint blade make this a solid everyman's EDC. I went with the micarta version and am pleased with my choice. Now if only EKI would offer micarta (and in more colors) regularly on different knives, we'd really have a good thing going. Also , bring back the super A-100…and the Big Bulldog 😀

  6. Yester5

KISS principle personified. Absolutely brilliant design and execution. Love it

  7. John Clark Jr

“ True sophistication always implies brilliant simplicity.”

  8. Marty Reno

Probably my favorite design. Perfect for EDC and has performed without issue. Great in the pocket and very ergonomic.

  9. Jonathan

Very simple and straight forward. I love the clean lines on this model. I know this is a longer blade but the slim handle makes it very easy to carry.

  10. Michael Shurgalla

This was my first Emerson and first knife over 20 bucks. It is a great combo of elegance and size to be up to any edc task. The slim carry foot print works so well for many types of clothing and situations. I wound up putting custom scales on mine and using as a gentlemans edc.

  11. John Shin

I found emerson knives late and regret to say im so sad that i didnt find them earlier. Purchased an A-100 and fell in love with the design. One of my favorites and the one that started an obsession. Feels great in the hand and just has a classic humble feel to it. Can't go wrong with this knife any day of the week.

  12. Jeremy Atwood

Definitely one of my favorites! Slim, pocketable and plenty of blade. I like serrations, but also have one without. Very reminiscent of Ernie’s viper 1. Can’t go wrong with the A-100

  13. James DiBella (verified owner)

I've owned an A-100 SF in the past. That knife is a straight forward design. Ready for any cutting task at hand; The A-100 is a screaming piece of equipment. If you have been let down by other knife manufacturers in the past trying to make an ergonomic knife. Try this design by Emerson and you won't be disappointed. It's a safe approach to knife design offering clean lines and a razors edge.

  14. Jerry Jensen

I have 3 A-100s. They are in different setups from Poboy to basic. GREAT EDC knife. Not as “threatening “ to non knife folks.

  15. Derek

Love this option; have one myself (and a mini) plus I picked up one for my Dad. Simple, straight-forward, effective. You will not be disappointed, rather it's your first Emerson knife, or your 11th!

  16. Kenneth McFall

The simplicity of this blade makes it the most attractive hard use knife I know of, would love to see a wave on it, but that would take away the beauty.

  17. SSgt Herrington

    How long is the blade?

    • Admin

The A-100 blade is 3.6″ long.

  18. v724810

Been looking for one of these for a while. Finally got it and couldn't be more pleased. I like history, and this knife has plenty of it. Easy to see why it's been around so long. With the straight handles, sits well in the hand in any position. Balance is perfect. Great fit and finish. Shaving sharp out of the box. Nice lockup with no stick. This may be about as close as you can get to a perfect EDC as you can get. Thanks Mr. Emerson for another great knife. Tell whoever built it, thanks for the great build.

Absolutely love this knife. This just seems to be the one I grab first when heading to work or when heading out to the park with my family. It has worked great on hunting and fishing trips, house renovations, working in the garage and on the yard, you name it. IT can then turn around and handle cutting an apple up for my little girl or cutting up stuff for a picnic with my wife. Tough, holds an edge and easy to sharpen. The word that keeps coming up is simple-every thing you need, nothing you don't. Only one I carry more is my waved 7.

  20. Docbp87

Simple, straight forward, versatile, and shockingly heavy duty. Looks like a classic, plain folding pocket knife, but in reality the A-100 can handle everything that the more “specialized” specific purpose knives can, and more. The full sized A-100 is large enough to be as capable as a fighter as it is when slicing an apple for lunch. The mini A-100 takes all of this, and puts it in a package that won't scare the wimps at the office. Not to mention that its lineage seems to pre-date the Viper knives (and definitely channels them into a current production blade package). Simple, straight forward, and BADDDDD!
