CQC-7AW

The Emerson CQC-7AW is a variation on our best-selling CQC-7BW. The only difference is that this model has a spear point, traditional blade style. Available in both stonewashed and black and with plain or partially serrated edges. This knife is perfect for those who love the simplicity and ergonomics of the classic CQC-7 but prefer a more traditional blade. Featuring a conventional V-Grind, chisel edge and the patented Emerson Wave Feature.

Amazing attention to detail love this piece, but have owned several Emerson’s over the years. This one is a keeper beautiful blade shape excellent wave feature and ergos are off the charts thanks Emerson for keeping it USA made too!🇺🇸

I have owned knives of most major brands, including Benchmade. This knife makes most of them feel like toys in comparison. This is now my best knife by a large margin. The Wave feature took a few tries to be able to open it quickly and reliably. It’s definitely a useful feature. My biggest challenge with this knife is that I can’t really carry it when I am wearing exercise clothing. The clip is so strong and the handle creates so much friction (only with certain fabrics), that when I try to pull it out, my pants come with it and I end up with a huge wedgy. The Wave feature has also torn the seam of my pocket of some addidas pants I have. If you are wearing jeans or any kind of cargo pants/tactical clothing, there is nothing to worry about. The knife is designed for “hard use”, just make sure your clothing is also “hard use”. I like to carry a knife when I go for runs at night, so I need to hang on to some of my other knives. Of the knives that I own, this CQC7 and my Buck 110 are the only ones that I feel will last multiple lifetimes.

The first CQC 7 AW I purchased was in 2003. It had the year it was made on it (2000). When I ordered I asked for the handle to be changed from black to green and this wasn't a problem. In those days it had holes drilled in the handle to switch the position of the clip. That knife never failed, easy to disassemble and sharpen. Eventually it was given away as a gift. Second CQC 7 was a tanto version and that was made in 2008. The knife was heavily used and performed amazingly. Until recently someone thought they needed it more than me. Last week I decided I still needed a reliable, comfortable and good knife that could be easily maintained and used as a utility knife. The CQC 7 AW easily meets those requirements. The updates from my first one purchased roughly 20 years ago are: the blade seems to be better crafted and milled. Still that legendary sharpness! Ergonomically still is comfortable in the pocket and in the hand. I like the update on the handle with an indentation where the thumb slides to open the knife. The plastic buffer in the handle has bee taken away which seems to be a great improvement. Hoping to have this knife for a long time.

The CQC-7A is probably the most well designed EDC knife in the industry. It is everything you need and nothing you don't. It has a very useful and “non threatening” blade shape so you won't feel uneasy about opening it in public. The thin, body handle is surprisingly ergonomic in all grip styles allowing it to be easily used for a variety of EDC related tasks. The blade stock is thin enough for food preparation, but thick enough to withstand heavier duty tasks should the need arise. The CQC-7A, like all Emerson knives, is easily disassembled and cleaned. This knife is pure utility, and a companion you can count on every time you put it in your pocket

Wow, this knife is great. Bought it to use as a hard use EDC. And it will work perfect for probably the rest of my life.

20 years ago while attending a police academy in Virginia I had the opportunity to use a classmates Emerson CQC7 for just a minor task. That knife left an impression on me as being sturdy and that it fit my hand well. The thought of that well made knife never left my mind, and so finally I was able to purchase one of my own. I intend to use this CQC7AW as a daily carry knife for general cutting tasks and had it set up to be carried in my left front pocket, because I wear my duty pistol on the right (dominant side). I caution other LEO against using the “wave” feature in nylon uniforms, unless it is an emergency. The nylon pants can not take the stress, and will rip. I am very pleased with the fit and function of this knife, and would like to eventually purchase a few more to serve as dedicated self defense knives.
