The Emerson CQC-15 is a hybrid of two of our most popular and classic models: The Commander and the CQC-7B. The piercing point of the Emerson CQC-7B and the graceful cutting efficiency of the Emerson Commander, the CQC-15 is born.

This knife sports a comfortable, secure, ergonomic handle gives you the best of both worlds. The Emerson CQC-15 is truly one helluva knife. It features a tanto/recurve blade combo that suits its use in any environment, from the boardroom to the deployment staging area.

This knife has already hit the streets of Baghdad and has been moving quick and quiet. This knife is a sturdy, aggressive tool that will definitely get you out of a jam if you ever need it.

KNIFE ANATOMY

Anatomy of an Emerson Knife

HOW TO USE THE WAVE FEATURE

An important part of knowing the anatomy of an Emerson Knife is knowing how to utilize it. Using the  patented Emerson Wave Feature correctly, you can deploy the knife out of pocket rapidly. It takes some practice to master. See how it's done in the video above.

BLADE STYLE: RECURVE/TANTO

The CQC-15 features this blade and is truly one of our most unique designs. The belly of the blade shows off our recurve edge but abruptly ends at a sharp angle giving it a nice Tanto tip.

Fun Fact: CQC-15s are basically a fusion of the CQC-7BW and the Commander.

Standoff Spacers have been standard on all Emerson Knife models since 2014. Any knife ordered from our site from that year will receive one of these models.

Anatomy of an Emerson Knife Lanyard

Lanyard Holes serve one purpose: attaching a paracord lanyard if you choose to get one. We get asked that question quite a lot!

The Thumb Button is there so that you may open the knife single handedly . Specifically with your thumb. Some people are naturals at it and some have to learn. Either way, it's very useful.

To date I have 18 of Mr. Emerson’s fine wares. To ME, they are at the top of the “hard use” knives out there. No, they’re not all that pretty, nor are they as finely finished as some. BUT, who cares! They are meant to be used, not displayed in a wall. Some claim the lock and the blade can gall causing them to “stick” , thereby causing them to be hard to unlock. Yes, it’s kind of a pain at times, but to me the “sticking” is a distinct advantage in a life or death emergency. The last thing you want is for your knife to close when you are trying to defend yourself or someone else. So, is sticking a pain, yeah it is. But thank you Mr.Emerson for this perhaps accidental advantage to your knives.

Let me start by saying that this is one of my top favorites to carry. Everything about it screams perfect design. Reason I'm giving it three stars is because mine came with series lock-rock issues when you put any grip pressure on it. I have heard this same complaint by other people as well in groups. I've never had this issue with any of my other Emerson's

The Emerson Mini CQC-15 is everything I wanted in a carry knife. Very happy with it.

Just got my Thunderstorm mini-15 (my 3rd mini) and it’s better than all the others.

I’ve noticed a couple things different than on my stone finished or the black blade mini-15. Indeed on all my other Emersons.
    1. The Thunderstorm finish of course. Almost like a black cerakote that has been stone finished! But it’s not. I do really like it though.
    2. I’m guessing the bushings are still some form of “plastic” but instead of the normal white they’re black and seem to be slicker than the white ones. They just “feel” better.
    3. Each liner has a detent ball in it, so the blade seems really secure yet it still opens fairly easy (seems no harder than my other Emerson’s).
    4. The detent holes in the blade is a hole drilled completely through the blade from one side to the other.
    5. The handles although still quite “grippy” don’t seem quite as aggressive as my last few blades. I like this.
    6. The handles, what with their “hook” at both the front and back fit my hand perfectly. When I tightly grasp the handles in a Saber grip with my thumb on the ramp my hand is locked in so tightly you couldn’t fit a piece of paper between my fingers. Again! I like it.
Another GREAT job Mr Emerson. Keep up the good work and thanks again.
    Randy

This was my first Emerson but based on the quality it won't be my last. Exactly what I wanted in a knife and nothing I didn't need. Down and dirty hard use knife. Takes a beating and the customer service is incredible.

Absolutely love it, got lots of knives an I find this one to be something unique an actually able to be used, my customs tend to be cabinet warmers ( except my quest custom kutzu flipper )
This one has the custom feel weight etc. This one you have to handle to appreciate it.
Sure the imports are built from similar materials but this like I said, just handle one and you’ll understand ( plus you’ll see the shortcomings of the imports ). Overbuilt yeah, but way more then a box opener.

  7. ggleck

If I could only have 1 folding knife and no others this would be it. Just perfect. Thank you.

  8. Gary Glueck

If you could only 1 have folding knife of all the others out there, this 1 sure seems to have and them all beat. Thanks very much

  9. ggleck

If you were in a world where you could only own 1 knife, not just here but but of any maker, I'd be hard pressed to come up with a better knife than this 1. Except the bigger 1. It feels good, looks good, and molds into the hand perfectly and when it's opened you get to that just damn perfect shape of the blade. I was able to get a coated plain edged 1 and its hard to put it down. I also put the titanium silver spartan helmet thumb disc on it to pop against the black and it sure does. Thanks for a fantastic knife!

Just received my CQC-15 Mini. It fits and feels well in both my left and right hands . It opens and closes smoothly and the blade locks and unlocks every time. The wave feature works efficiently when deploying from the pocket. The blade was very sharp. My CQC-15 Mini has earned my respect as being dependable, reliable and tough. I am retired Law Enforcement (41 years) Officer and the CQC-15 Mini is another Emerson Knife that I would recommend for Law Enforcement, Fire and EMS. I have a friend who works for a large electric power company, high voltage lines and a bucket truck. He was quite impressed with the knife and intends on purchasing one. As a matter of fact, I had to remind him to give it back. Thank you Mr Emerson and Staff for another well designed creation.

  11. Chris Martin

The mini CQC-15 is in my opinion the best of all the Emerson designs. It's a blend of two of his other designs, and that often makes for a knife that doesn't perform as well as either of the donor designs. I can assure you that's not the case here. It does everything well, at least as far as hard use knives go. It fits perfectly in your pocket, and is light enough that it doesn't constantly remind you it's there. I own 8 Emerson folding knives. If I was forced to sell all but one, this would be the last one standing. Get it with the serrations. Trust me.

  12. Darik Forrest

Superior ergonomics and a fantastic edge profile make this one of my favorite knives. Always gets at least a day day or two per week in the rotation. Big enough to handle any of the day to day stuff but the mini will not scare others or weigh too heavily in street clothes.

  13. Benjamin

The Mini CQC-15 was my first Emerson purchase. It fits my hands well, has a little bit of recurve to help with slicing, and my favorite part is the strong point.

  14. Julian Bradford

I just got this knife from a friend and to say that I'm blown away is a massive understatement. Rip, slice and pierce – it does it all, with ease and grace and panache. Once I've finished gussying it up with thumb disk, clip & lanyard it'll be even more the thing of beauty that it already is! Thanks for a sterling product.

  15. Best pocket knife I ever owned, I have had lots.

This mini 15 is my first Emerson Blade. Was a little put off by it at first it just feels so different. However, within several hours of play it replaced my previous edc pocket. Love the versatility of the blade shape, lock works like a champ, of course drawing an emerson blade is something to behold. Even the texture and weight and size are all great. You could have grease on your hands and you could still keep a firm grip.

  16. Dave

Highly impressive and versatile little knife. So far, it’s exceeded my expectations. The build quality is great and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to buy their first Emerson, or add another one to their collection.

  17. Chase White (verified owner)

The CQC 15 mini is my first Emerson, and it has to be one of the most well made knives I've ever owned. I've owned many name brand knives over the years but this has to be one of the best. Well worth the money. Stop looking at them online every day and just buy one! You won't regret your decision.

  18. Johnny

The latest addition to my growing collection of Emerson's and man o' man…

This knife may just be the perfect EDC offering and like the previous reviewer stated, “it's just right”!
Got mine in black with a plain edge as I have others with serrations.
This Mini CQC-15 will be riding with me regularly for sure!

Owned this knife 3 years ago before I sent it to the sand with a friend who deployed. Haven't heard of the knife since but I know it didn't let her down because she's now home safe in the states. Absolute beast of a knife. Best Emerson in my collection. I've owned 10+ over the years. I recently purchased a replacement and I'm mad I didn't do it sooner. I own the SFS with standoffs. Fit and finish is perfect I don't care what people think and locks up better than a bank vault. I have 3 knives in 1 package. Tanto for piercing, belly for slicing, and serrations to maul anything that stands in it's way. God Bless Emerson and his company. Best in the business and customer service is top notch.

while the cqc-15 is an excellent knife, it is a bit too large to be an EDC… this one, however, is a great sized EDC… well designed… and comfortable in the hand…

  21. ADAM

When these come out with the standoffs, I'll be owning #2!!!

  22. ADAM HENSON

I just got this knife today in the mail and I'm telling you what…it is one HELL of a knife ..I'm in love ..Owlwoooo !!!!!

  23. loadedquestions

i own 6 emerson knives and out of all of them the one that spends the most time in my pocket is the mini 15. This knife is the “Goldilocks” of my collection, it's just right. it's just small enough to be easy to carry, and just big enough to be useful. it's small enough to be a utlity knife you can take out in public without scarring (most) people, but it's still big enough and bad enough to make (most) bad guys think twice.
the blade geometry gives you options, you can use the tanto point for peircing or like a box cutter/exacto knife; you can use the super sharp belly of the blade for chopping, slashing, or like a scalpel; and the (optional) serations can saw through hard plastics and other things that the plain edge can't cut.
If it can be done with a knife, it can be done with the mini cqc 15.
