The latest Prestige Line offering from the Emerson camp is the Jungle Commander. Dressed in Jungle Green G10 for the first time, the wicked V-ground partially serrated blade is constructed from black finished 154CM stainless steel and features an ambidextrous thumb disc along with some jumping on the waved area. The no-slip grip jungle green scales are secured to titanium liners with one forming the lock. Includes a black tip-up carry pocket clip. Brand new direct from Emerson Knives. Made in USA.

The Emerson model called the “Commander” typifies the very efficient style of blade shape called the re-curve. Re-curve blades use a conventional V grind and a blade shape that resembles an S-curve along the cutting-edge. The first advantage of the re-curve blade is that the blade’s cutting edge is longer than the blade itself. If you were to lay a string along the edge, it would be longer than the blade. The longer  edge simply means more cutting surface. Secondly, because of the curve, material is drawn along and into the concave portion of the blade (the inward curve), giving great leverage when cutting cord, clothing or webbing.

Thirdly, the convex portion of the blade (the outward curve) called the belly, concentrates the force of cutting or slashing on the front end, creating a cutting curve that cuts remarkably well with a minimum force.  Also because of this upswept curve it is delicate enough to skin large game with ease. The re-curve blade is found most notably on the ” Commander” and the Emerson “Patriot” designs.

  1. :

Just picked up one of these and I am very glad I did. The green scales really set off the black blade, mines got serrations, also has the G10 back spacer which I like much better than the stand offs. Very smooth, no lock stick, waves real nice. very sharp out or the box, Just a great classic Emerson. Looking forward to carrying this one and using it hard. If you are a Commander guy you should really look at this one. I’d like to see Emerson offer more scale colors for this model.

And Mr. E if you read this, a chisel grind with a thumb hole commander would be my Commander Grail, and yeah in Jungle Green please. Good job.

Jungle commander is my 3rd Emerson, and instantly became my all-time favorite pocket knife. The green g-10 handle is a true olive drab green and looks classic complimented with black blade and hardware. This ’14 model has the stand off construction which lends itself to easier clean out due to the flow thru construction. The checkering on the handle scales is a larger weave pattern than my ’13 CQC 8 and ’14 Patriot, which makes for an aggressive grip. Already being an Emerson owner, the erigonomics of the commander blew my mind. The blade is centered, action is smooth and fast, and the lock up is perfect. The first day I didn’t carry my CQC-8 was the day I got this jungle commander.
As far as customer service, I ordered this knife on a Friday with the free shipping option and the knife was on my doorstep Monday….from Cali to NY! Quality American made knives and loyal customer service is what you can expect from Emerson.
